Resin Bound Gravel is created by mixing natural aggregate, marble or recycled glass with a clear resin. Where a resin bonded system involves a layer of resin simply poured over aggregate, our system combines the two and fully coats each stone in resin before laying the mixture onto a stable sub-base. This process creates a three-dimensional matrix in which all of the stones are bound together and protected by the resin.
By producing surfaces using this method, we can create a completely smooth surface that is impervious to the effects of frost and UV lighting. This means that it will never crack, it will never fade and there will never be any loose stones. In order to maintain a Resin Bound Gravel surface, it is only necessary to clean it occasionally, preventing the build up of grime and debris.

Although initially appearing effective and functional, tarmac ages relatively quickly from weathering and oxidation. Once weakened, tarmac suffers from progressive disintegration, leaving it susceptible to cracking and fading, which is expensive and tricky to repair. Resin Bound Gravel, however,  is not only UV-stable, making it fade-resistant, but is extremely durable, flexible and completely resistant to the elements.

When we lay a fresh mixture of resin and stone, a system of tiny, invisible voids is created throughout the surface. Although these voids have no impact on the appearance or durability of the paving, they make the surface exceptionally porous, mimicking natural drainage and allowing rainwater to run straight through to the water table.

Absolutely! With the right sub-base, Resin Bound Gravel can withstand even heavy traffic, such as lorries and buses.

One of the greatest advantages of Resin Bound Gravel paving is how easy it is to maintain. Regular sweeping and the occasion power wash to remove accumulated debris and grime will keep it looking as good as the day it was installed for many years.

This depends largely on where the Resin Bound Gravel paving is being laid and what it is being used for. If there is to be foot traffic only, it can be fully cured in as little as six hours. If it is being laid for vehicular use it may take up to 16 hours. For heavy vehicular use, we recommend curing for 24 hours.

When laid by an approved installer, we fully guarantee our Resin Bound Gravel paving for 10 years against cracking, fading, loose stones, frost damage, UV degradation and oil damage.

In reality, we have every expectation that Resin Bound Gravel will last as long as 20 years – maybe even longer!

No – far from it! Our blend of resin is derived from natural plant extracts and once it has dried, becomes completely chemically inactive, making it 100% safe for children and pets.

The average thickness of our Resin Bound Gravel is around 18mm. However, this will largely depend on your application and the size and style of stone you choose. For example, foot traffic requires a thinner layer than vehicular traffic. 

There are a variety of different factors that will impact upon the cost of a project; for example, the size of the surface area to be covered, the complexity of the project and the style and colour of stone to be used. Each project is therefore priced on an individual basis.
